I watched this ‘accidentally’ in the tea room at work yesterday. It distracted me from ‘The Hunger Games’ that I was already reading.
WHAT THE FUCK HAVE I TURNED INTO. I heart being 14 again.

And fuck you IMDB for only giving it 3.1. I was really enjoying it until I had to go back.

Bulli Burn

It’s a run up in Bulli tomorrow morning. I ran the inaugural 5km last year and they have included a 10km this year. I’m looking forward to it. I’m going to get under 49 minutes so that I can register for the City to Surf on Sunday night in the Red Start group. It’s pretty windy out. Hopefully it dies down for tomorrow.

In other news, Anton did this to his hair:

It’s all gone. I am sad. And yes, he is wearing my jumper. Big puss doesn’t have hair, he gets cold apparently.

OMG. EVERY FUCKING FUCK FUCK OFF TIME.

I would seriously hug all of my toys after this song. All of them. Where are they. I’m driving the 3 hours home to Mum’s to hug them this instant.

SMH Half Marathon

After very little training and one failed attempt at a LR with Simon, I forgot about the Sydney Half Marathon, May 20th.

A very flattering photo of myself and Simon at the end of the race.

My friend Mel reminded me early on in the week, and after planning to drive up with Anton and stay at a friends house in the city, our friend whose car we were borrowing lost his keys and we couldn’t go. So then I settled for getting a train at 3am from Wollongong to Sydney… Luckily at the last minute, Mel offered me half the floor (she had the other half) of her parents hotel in Wynyard where they were staying as her Dad, David was attempting his second half! Awesome!!! Came, died on the floor (surprisingly comfortable, thanks Travelodge) and got up at stupid o’clock for the 6.45am start.

Met Simon and his Mum, Debbie. We started together in the red start group (aim to finish in under 2 hours). Davey T started in the yellow (over 2 hours) just behind us. We began about 8 minutes after the initial gun. My biggest regret for this race was not starting to the front of the red pack. As we started right at the back, we may as well have been in the yellow group. It actually could have worked better this way. For at least the first 8km I was not running my own race, stuck in the pace of the 100’s of people surrounding me. The next bummer about this was the hills! SO MANY HILLS! At every corner!

My knee has been playing up ever since the Canberra Marathon and just doesn’t seem to be healing on its own. Even after my ‘intentional break for healing purposes’ (ie. drankin’ and being lazy) it’s still mucking up. About 5km in it started really hurting. Then for the rest of the race, it was all I could think about. By about 10km in I would have called it quits had it not been a race which I had paid $90 for and which I would have rather not have officially DNF’d.

Anyway, the burn of the race was at the 17km mark. They had you run right up to the finish line and then had to run straight past it to race another 4km. NOT FAIR! There were some good cheer squads around this point but my poor knee was screaming for mercy.

Finished in about 1.49.04 which I am fairly disappointed with seeing as my first and only other half was around 1.46. I really did want to make it under 1.45 in order to qualify for the Red Start group in the City to Surf this year. Oh well. Am giving the Bulli Burn this weekend a go and trying to get under 49 minutes for that to qualify!

Just watched the video of me at the finish. Not pretty. I’m running very weirdly because of my knee. Haha.

This is me not knowing what to do with my hands at the end of the race… Thanks Mel!

We collected our medals at the finish and filled up on gatorade and water. There wasn’t anything free worth having by the looks of things. Or maybe we just didn’t bother looking that well…

Bit of a nice photo of us all; me, Sim, Debbie and David with our medals at the finish.

Got a lift back to Wollongong with Meli and her family, my knee still aching, went to my physio friend Missy’s house for tea and she diagnosed me. My knee cap is compensating for some muscle which isn’t working properly… Blah blah blah have to strengthen that muscle to fix it…. All I heard was, ‘you can’t run, you can’t run’. Which I am fairly unamused by as I have just made a massive training plan for the Blackmores Running Festival Marathon in September. She taped it which helped, but I tried to run without tape for a small, four kilometres the next day and it hurt like nothing else.

Now it’s time to go and start my chemistry pre lab! Just found out i received 1% from a High Distinction for my first ever university assignment! A biology paper on photosynthesis. Pretty stoked. But also a tiny bit annoyed I didn’t manage to draw one silly line on a graph… Whoops!
